Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team was defeated in the team’s home opener on Friday night 3-2 by Valley City State in the Donald E. Young Center.

The Yellow Jackets fell in the first set 25-20 and then came back to win the second set 25-22.  Black Hills State won the third set 25-16 only to fall in the fourth set 25-15.  The Yellow Jackets led 14-13 in the fifth set when Valley City State rattled off three straight points to win 16-14 and win the match.

Black Hills State was led by freshman Amy O’Neill who posted 21 kills and sophomore Kylee Lamb who finished the evening with 14 kills. 

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Sat., Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. against Jamestown.
