Crete, Neb. – The Black Hills State University track and field team competed in the Last Chance Meet at Doane College in Crete, Neb. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets had a stellar performance with two individual champions, five automatic qualifiers, and four provisional qualifiers.

For the women's team, Abi Bever won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:34.33. She was followed in second by Leigh Anne Whiteside with a time of 11:35.67, earning a provisional qualifying mark. Erin Curran also ran well as she placed second in the 5000 meter race with a time of 17:45.65 and third in the 1500 with a  time of 4:40.46. Curran now stands in second on the BHSU All-Time record list in both events.

On the men's side, Cody Bordewyk won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:55.97. In the 3000 meter steeplechase Jed Morgan posted a national qualifying time by finishing in 9:20.03. Craig Leavitt also provisionally qualified for the event with a time of 9:36.89.

Qualifiers for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships will travel to Fort Meade, Ind. to compete May 27-29.
