Pueblo, Colo. – The Black Hills State women’s track and field team tied for first place at the CSU Pueblo Invite with Fort Hays State scoring 83 points.  The men’s track and field team tied for 11th place.

Shannon Hellman won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 13.66.  Nikki Shinkle placed first in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a time of 1:03.86.  Also, the women’s 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 4:02.71.  The women’s team also had a strong showing in the field events.  Cody Milbourn placed second in the women’s hammer throw and shot put with throws of 51.71 meters and 13.05 meters, respectively.  Milbourn also had a throw of 35.91 meters in the discus.  Lisa Koch cleared a height of 3.70 meters to place second in the pole vault.  Breanna Janovy had a second place finish in the discus with a throw of 41.20 meters.

On the men’s side, Cole Nicholas placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.27 meters.  Jed Morgan was the only other Yellow Jacket to finish in the top five.  Morgan placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.37.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on April 24 when they host the Yellow Jacket Open at Lyle Hare Stadium in Spearfish, S.D.
