Mayville, N.D. – The Black Hills State softball team fell to Mayville State in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday in Mayville, N.D. The Yellow Jackets lost the first game 3-1 and the second 4-2. Black Hills State falls to 12-9 (4-2 DAC) on the season.
In the first game, the Yellow Jackets managed only one run on three hits. Black Hills State led 1-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning when Mayville State scored three runs on five hits. Black Hills State also committed two errors in the inning. Senior Heidi Kwilinski went 1-for-3 and scored the Yellow Jackets only run.
The results of the second game were no better for the Yellow Jackets. Once again, Black Hills State carried a lead late in the game. The Yellow Jackets were leading 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Comets broke out and scored four runs on two hits. Kwilinski continued her success with the bat going 3-for-3 and knocking in a run. Kwilinski also scored one run in the game.
Black Hills State will return to the diamond tomorrow for another doubleheader against Mayville State. Game times are set for 1 p.m. CT and 3 p.m. CT.
