Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State Yellow Jacket Softball team fell short in both games of the doubleheader against NCAA Division II opponent Chadron State College. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Eagles 3-8 in the first game and 3-7 in the second.

In the first game of the afternoon, the Yellow Jackets battled both the weather and the Chadron State sluggers. Despite the rain, Chadron State gained an early lead with Jamie Mazankowski’s three run homer. The Yellow Jackets battled back in the bottom of the fifth adding three runs of their own. However, it was not enough to overcome the eight runs posted by the Eagles and the Yellow Jackets came up short 3-8 in seven innings.

In the second game of the day, Black Hills State played well defensively for the first three innings. The Yellow Jackets were able to pull out to a one run lead in the bottom of the third when Aleishia Giesey drove home Ashley Berg. Chadron State answered the Black Hills State score with seven of their own, as they defeated the Yellow Jackets 7-3 in seven innings.

Next up for the Yellow Jacket Softball team is an away contest against Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D. on April 10 and 11, 2010.
