The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 12 sports – six women’s and six men’s.
Black Hills State finished the 2008-09 year in 11th place with schools all over the nation. The Yellow Jackets had seven Dakota Athletic Conference Champions in cross country (men and women), volleyball, men’s basketball, women's indoor track & field, golf, and women’s outdoor track & field. The Yellow Jackets also had teams compete at the NAIA National level in cross country, volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, indoor track & field, golf, and outdoor track & field.
