Jenessa Rantapaa, a senior at Lead-Deadwood High School has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Black Hills State University beginning in the fall of 2009.  Rantapaa has been a member of the Lead-Deadwood golf team since the beginning of her seventh grade year.  Along with standing out on the golf course, Jenessa also excels in the classroom and plans on majoring in elementary education at BHSU.

Jenessa has enjoyed a decorated high school career throughout her time at Lead-Deadwood.  Three top ten finishes in the last three state tournaments and three straight runner-up finishes at the regional tournament has helped Jenessa become one of the best golfers in the state of South Dakota.  For her accomplishments on the golf course, Rantapaa was named to the Black Hills Conference All-Conference golf team in 2007.   Along with individual accomplishments, Rantapaa has helped the Lead-Deadwood golf team become one of the best teams in the state, with five consecutive conference championships, region championships, and state championships.

“We are very excited to have Jenessa join the golf program here at Black Hills State University.  She is just the type of student-athlete we are looking for to move forward with our program.  Her dedication on the golf course and in the classroom will help her excel in her time here at BHSU,” said Head Coach Jaime Bentley.
