Black Hills State University improved to 12-1 on the season after defeating Shorter College and Johnson & Wales University in the Perkins Classic. Entering the Perkins Classic the Yellow Jackets were 10-1 and ranked 7th in the NAIA.
Monday, the Yellow Jackets went back and forth with Shorter College eventually building a nine point lead at halftime 37-28. In the second half the Yellow Jackets maintained their advantage to take the game 73-64. The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Cain Atkinson with 23 points. Sophomore Will John Johnson had 14 points and 16 rebounds, sophomore Clay Pottorff had 11 points, and sophomore Luke Enos added 10 points on the evening.
Tuesday, BHSU got off to a sluggish start trailing at halftime 35-33 to Johnson & Wales University. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets went on a 19-2 run to break the game open and eventually take the game 83-62. The Yellow Jackets were led by Cain Atkinson with 20 points. Clay Pottorff had 19 points, Luke Enos had 14 points, and senior AJ Fodness added 12 points.
The 12-1 Yellow Jackets will travel this weekend to Havre, Montana to take on Montana Tech and Montana State University Northern Friday and Saturday. Please check the schedule for exact game times and locations.
