Celebrate homecoming hippie
style
The annual Black Hills State University homecoming Oct.
10-14 will be celebrated "hippie style" with "Swarmin’
in the 70s" as the theme for the week’s festivities.
Activities begin Tuesday, Oct. 10 and continue through the
week culminating in a full day of activities on Swarm Day Saturday,
Oct. 14. Events include the parade, tailgate socials and the football
game vs. Mayville. So find your tie die t-shirts, peace signs and
smiley faces and help celebrate Swarm Day 2000.
Schedule of events for BH homecoming week
Tuesday, Oct. 10
- Picnic at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Campus Green
- Coronation
at 6 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket
Student Union Multi-Purpose Room
- Performance by hypnotist
Jim Wand at 8 p.m. in the Young Center
Gymnasium. Tickets are available for $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

Wednesday, Oct. 11
- Coed Strip Basketball at 4 p.m. in Cook Gymnasium
- Mr. Cinderfella contest
at 7 p.m. in Woodburn Auditorium.
Admission is a suggested donation of $2 to the BHSU Reading Council.
Thursday, Oct. 12
- Kid's Carnival from 4-7 p.m. in Cook Gym. This event is free to
all area children up to sixth grade. There are numerous games, booths
and prizes as well as an appearance of Lindee Lou the Clown.
- Float preparation
from 7 p.m. until midnight in the Young Center
field house
Friday, Oct. 13
- Hall of Fame Banquet at 6:15 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Tickets
are $12 and are available at the institutional advancement office in
Woodburn 110 or by call 642-6385. Five new members will be inducted into
the athletic hall of fame.
- Volleyball game
vs. Minot State University at 7 p.m. in the
Young Center Gymnasium.
- Float preparation
from 7 a.m. until midnight in the Young
Center field house
Saturday, October 14
- Alumni Awards Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Student Union
Multi-Purpose Room. Four alumni will be honored for their achievements.
Tickets are $5 and are available at the institutional advancement office
in Woodburn 110 or by calling 642-6446.
- Dakota Cross-Country Championships
at 9 a.m., at the Spearfish
Canyon Country Club.
- Parade
beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Young Center parking
lot. Organizations and businesses are encouraged to participate in the
parade. Floats can be entered in the competition or just entered in
the parade. Deadline for entries is Oct. 6. Early signups are

- Yellow Jacket/Alumni Tailgate Social
at noon at Salem Park.
- Burger King Tailgate Social
from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Lyle Hare
Stadium.
- Football Game
at 2 p.m., the BHSU Yellow Jackets will take on
Mayville State.
- Homecoming Dance
from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Student Union.
