Men's Basketball picks up two key wins!

Going into this past weekend the men's basketball team knew how important both games were. On Friday the Yellow Jackets took on Mayville State University. Mayville beat the Yellow Jackets in their last meeting 79-84 at Mayville. The Comets got off to a fast start taking a 2-8 lead. BHSU would then fight back and eventually go on a run to close the first half 46-39. In the second half the Yellow Jackets came out on fire and they stretched their lead to double figures and never looked back. The Yellow Jacket won the game 119-65. Black Hills State was led by sophomore Parker Emerson with 31 points. Freshman Cain Atkinson had 22 points. Freshmen Luke Enos and Will John Johnson combined for 27 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Travis Haney added 10 points.
On Saturday Dakota State entered the game fresh of a last second win against South Dakota School of Mines the night before. The Yellow Jackets got off to a fast start in this one taking a 10 point lead early and stretching that to 15 points going into halftime 41-26. In the second half the lead grew to 20 points as the Yellow Jackets took the game 69-49. Black Hills State was led by freshman Cain Atkinson with 21 points. Sophomore Parker Emerson added 11 points.
The 13-12 Yellow Jackets will travel this weekend to Valley City State University and Jamestown College. They will return home the following week as they play host to rival South Dakota School of Mines on Wednesday, February 20th.
