Men's Basketball Splits on Road Trip!

Last weekend the Yellow Jackets traveled to Madison, South Dakota and Mayville, North Dakota for two more league contests. On Friday the Yellow Jackets took on Dakota State where they jumped off to a five point halftime advantage. In the second half Black Hills State made a run to increase their lead to double figures and put the game away. The final score was 78-69. Black Hills State was led in scoring by freshman Cain Atkinson with 16 points and six rebounds. Freshman Will John Johnson had nine points and 10 rebounds and freshman Luke Enos added 12 points.
The next night in Mayville, North Dakota the Yellow Jackets got off again to a fast start by taking an early lead of 36-21. The Comets closed the gap to 10 points 44-34 going into halftime. In the second half the Yellow Jackets maintained a 10 point advantage until the final eight minutes when Mayville went on a run. The Yellow Jackets had some key turnovers down the stretch which accounted for baskets on the other end. Mayville took their first lead of the game in the final minutes. The final score was 79-84 Mayville State. Black Hills State was led by freshman Cain Atkinson with 16 points. Senior Corey Doolan, Sophomore newcomer Parker Emerson, and Luke Enos all added 12 points each. Will John Johnson also added eight points and nine rebounds on the evening.
The 9-10 Yellow Jackets will be at home this weekend against Dickinson State and Minot State. Please check schedule for times.
