Jackets Stay Perfect With Win Over Valley City State University

The Yellow Jackets stayed perfect by beating Valley City State University 3-1. “We played more consistent tonight than we had all year” said Coach Albers.
The Yellow Jackets came out strong in all four games tonight taking early leads. In the first game Valley City State was first to score. After the first point the Jackets led the whole way taking game one 30-23. The second game was very similar with the Vikings hanging around. The score was 28-26 when Black Hills State pulled away winning the game 30-27.
The third game went back and forth as both teams were trying to go on a run. The score stayed close all the way to the end with Valley City State taking game three 30-28. In the fourth game the Yellow Jackets were able to build a 15-9 lead and never look back winning 30-21.
Valley City State University was led by junior Heidi Larson. Heidi led the Vikings with 17 kills. “We knew Heidi was going to get her kills. We did a nice job sticking to our game plan and executing” added Coach Albers. Black Hills State was led by Carly Benz with 16 kills. Mindi Mayer added 10 kills. Mandy Brumfield had 48 assists.
Black Hills State volleyball will be in action next weekend as they travel to Jamestown College and Dakota State University.
