Spearfish, S.D. –The Black Hills State University Indoor Track and Field team hosted the final day of the DAC Indoor Conference Championship meet today at the Donald E. Young Center.
The Yellow Jackets performed well in both the men’s and women’s events.
On the women’s side, Nikki Shinkle finished first in the 60 meter hurdles and second in the 400 meter dash. Wendy O’Lexey also had a great day as she finished second in both the mile and 3000 meter runs. In the women’s 5000 meter run, Leigh Anne Whiteside and Katie Cook finished second and third respectively. The Yellow Jackets also finished second in both the 4x200 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay, and finished first in the 4x800 meter relay. Cody Milbourn, Alaina Yaracz, and Devon Flowers also picked up some big point for the team finishing in the top three spots of the women’s shot put. Overall, the Yellow Jacket women finished second in the team point totals behind Jamestown College.
On the men’s side, Laine Parish put on quite a showing when he finished first in the men’s 3000 meter run and second in the mile run. The Yellow Jacket men also ran well in the relays as they finished third in both the 4x200 and the 4x400 meter relays. In the field events, Jason Boeding earned the team 10 points with his first place finish in the men’s shot put. Philip Repasky also had a notable performance, placing third in the high jump. Overall, the Yellow Jacket men finished third in the team point totals behind Dickinson State and Dakota State.
