Yellow Jackets Shut Out Rival 26-0, Dickinson Next in the Dome!
| November 05, 2009
Last weekend the Yellow Jackets defeated rival South Dakota School of mines 26-0 on senior day at Lyle Hare Stadium. The Yellow Jackets reclaimed the Homestake Trophy back from the Hardrockers after a 23-24 defeat in 2008. “I am very proud of the seniors. The Homestake Trophy has been in our senior’s possession every year except for one and that is an awesome accomplishment for these seniors,” said Head Coach Jay Long.
With the win the Yellow Jackets solidified the #4 spot in the Dakota Athletic Conference where they will face off against the #1 seed Dickinson State University this Sunday at 7:30PM CST in the Fargo Dome on the campus of North Dakota State University. In the previous meeting between these two teams Dickinson defeated the Yellow Jackets 9-13. BHSU had an opportunity in the final two minutes to reclaim the lead but were unable to punch it in the end zone. “Our guys are excited about this matchup because the last time we played, the game ended on the five yard line,” added Coach Long.
