Students work with their advisor to select electives to help you meet your career goals. Common areas of emphasis include environmental education and interpretation, business and management, and adventure programming. A minor is not required with this major, but many students also minor in another area to expand their skills and enhance employment options. Common minors include biology, earth science, entrepreneurial studies, hospitality and tourism, mass communication, and psychology. Students considering graduate school may select a wider variety of electives to meet pre-requisites to their graduate school of choice.
The composite major in Outdoor Education combines instruction in basic environmental sciences, training in education skills for outdoor settings, and experience in adventure programming pursuits.
