After completing your elementary education degree at Black Hills State University, you can begin a successful teaching career, go on to graduate school, or continue your education to work in administration. At BHSU, you will have studied learning theories, practiced teaching, developed your teaching abilities and style, and designed classroom instruction using the most innovative methods. Our graduates are truly ready for either the challenge of today’s classroom or continuing their degree at the graduate level.
Continue your learning experience after graduation
Black Hills State University’s graduate program in Curriculum and Instruction offers you choices in technology, reading, math, or science. All education graduates must continue to take college level coursework to maintain certification. In the state of South Dakota, after every five years, you will need to have completed at least six hours of university courses. Here is an opportunity to complete your master’s degree during this time, with many of the courses and some full programs available online.
Elementary education graduation prepares you not only for the challenge of your own classroom; it qualifies you to be licensed with the South Dakota Department of Education. If your career takes you to other states, the degree will begin the process for licensure in these states as well.
