Dr. Hyunsuk Choi

Dr. Hyunsuk Choi is an assistant professor in the Program of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the School of Business at Black Hills State University. Dr. Choi joined BHSU from Fall of 2017. He earned his Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration from Texas Tech University in May 2016. Dr. Choi completed his Master’s degree in Leisure and Tourism at Kyonggi University and his Bachelor’s degree in Japanese literature and language from Chonbuk National University.
Dr. Choi has taught numerous courses in the areas of hospitality and tourism including Event Management, Tourism Management, Tourism planning and development, Restaurant Management, and Lodging Management, both on-ground and online.
Dr. Choi’s research focuses on Service-Learning, Event Management, Tourism Marketing, and Human Resources. He has collaborated with known scholars in the field. He has published and presented papers in reputable academic journals and premiere international conferences.
Dr. Choi has several years of work experience in the hotel, event, and restaurant industry, holding various positions, such as a front desk agent, a night auditor, a chef, a hall server, an assistant meeting director in South Korea, Japan, and U.S.A.
