Technology is a deeply embedded component in construction, manufacturing, communications, and in power production and distribution. As today’s world changes, so do the technical requirements and processes that you must understand to be competitive in today’s workforce. The Industrial Technology program at BHSU prepares you for a high-tech competitive career.

Industrial Technology is a degree designed to create managers in technologically related industries. It provides you with business management skills, technical knowledge and an understanding of the entrepreneur process. This program creates a synergy by connecting technical skills with management skills and empowers students who are interested in management to become familiar with technological applications. Current students feel strongly that the faculty does an excellent job and really enjoy the hands-on activities and the opportunity to be creative with the equipment.

BHSU offers the only Industrial Technology program in South Dakota. We prepare students to use today’s technologies; not just computers, but also:

  • Construction and Advanced Manufacturing
  • Technology relating to Energy, Power, and Transportation.
  • Computer aided design.

A composite major in Industrial Technology at Black Hills State University is the only program of its kind in South Dakota. It is unique to our university and provides you with technical skills and business management skills, as well as skills in accounting, communications and leadership.
