Meet Ashton Vandenhoek, a senior vocal music education major from Jamestown, Mich.  For the past two years Ashton has been actively participating in various vocal competitions. This fall she received an honorable mention in her division in the SDMTA competition, where she was among eight vocalists who all sing at graduate level. In the Spring of '09 she won second place in the collegiate female competition at the National Association of Teachers of Singing. And in November of '08 was declared the winner of the SD Music Teachers Association collegiate voice competition held in Brookings. She is a student of Dr. Nancy Roberts, and accompanied by Spearfish pianist Mona Hauck. In the video below she is accompanied by Dr. Janeen Larson.
