Program Requirements for the MBA in Applied Management at BHSU.

Black Hills State University will begin accepting applications for the MBA in Applied Management beginning in January 2010. The first cohort of 25 graduate students will enter training in the fall of 2010. The first year of classes will be taught at the Higher Education Center – West River in Rapid City. The program will be permanently housed in the new University Center when construction is completed in summer of 2011. The two-year program is intended to provide a graduate business education for working professionals in western South Dakota. To accommodate employed students, all classes are to be delivered in the evening, after business hours in Rapid City. Although all classes will be taught in the classroom, most courses in the MBA program will include an on-line component.

The MBA in Applied Management will consist of 36 graduate level contact hours (twelve courses) followed by 3 credit-hour supervised practicum/internship. The College of Business and Natural Sciences has hand-picked the faculty for the new program. To teach in the MBA program, a faculty member must have an earned doctorate related to the course work they teach and a history of sustained intellectual contributions within their discipline. Each faculty member is classified under AACSB standards as academically qualified to teach graduate business administration. BHSU’s newest graduate program has received approvals from the Higher Learning Commission and the South Dakota Board of Regents. For more on admission requirements.
