Black Hills State University will host the annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk fundraiser Saturday, April 18. The event, an integral part of Indian Awareness Week at BHSU, raises funds to support a yearly scholarship presented to a Native American sophomore who demonstrates outstanding academic ability and leadership.

Jaret at SanfordBlack Hills State University will host the 11th annual Black Hills Research Symposium in Clare and Josef Meier Hall on the BHSU campus March 24-26. The symposium includes student research presentations as well as a keynote address by Dr. Jaret Heise of the Sanford Lab at Homestake.

Drawn Against by Dave Willson, BHSU assistant professor of artBHSU assistant professor of art Dave Wilson recently displayed his artwork in two solo exhibitions in Joliet, Ill., and in Vermillion. Wilson is also scheduled to have two additional solo shows in 2009 at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot, N.D., and at Northern State University in Aberdeen.

The award is given to the school that collectively has the best performance in all sports in which they participate.
