Several Black Hills State University student organizations are hosting a fundraiser to support the Western Hills Humane Society (WHHS). Fundraising efforts began this week and will continue until Wednesday, Dec. 14.
More than 100 students from Black Hills State University, faculty, and community members attended Take Back the Night, an event designed to increase sexual assault awareness, hosted by the BHSU Psych Club.
The Spearfish Piano Duet Club will host a holiday concert at Black Hills State University Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.
Educational kits created by Black Hills State University students will be showcased at an open house Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at the High Plains Western Heritage Center. The kits were created in the South Dakota Indian Studies and Human Relations classes at BHSU.
Chris McCart, assistant professor and coordinator of the outdoor education program at Black Hills State University, was awarded the “Young Scholar” award by the Association for Moral Education. The scholarship assists in expenses to travel and present at the 2011 Association for Moral Education International Research Conference in Nanjing, China.
The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, will host the monthly Women in Networking (WIN) lunch at the Spearfish Holiday Inn Swarm Room Tuesday, Dec. 13 from noon to 1 p.m.
The Black Hills State University Concert Band will present a fall concert Monday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus.
The Black Hills State University School of Business will host a holiday musical comedy show by “Gordy Pratt: The Original Fabulous ONE GUY” Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus. Proceeds from this event will benefit the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO).
Black Hills State University Chamber Singers will present a holiday favorite, “A Madrigal Dinner,” Dec. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Clare and Josef Meier Hall on the BHSU campus.
A QuickBooks Training for advanced users will be held at Black Hills State University Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Governor’s Electronic Classroom (GEC) located in the basement of library room 009).
Mary Jo May, senior Black Hills State University social science education major from Kyle, will have her research displayed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fort Meade Nov. 16 -17 in the Credit Union corridor. She will be at the exhibit Wednesday, Nov. 16 to answer questions and share her experience with visitors.
The Dakota Chamber Orchestra, in residency at Black Hills State University, will present a fall concert, titled, “International Tour,” Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.
A women’s business conference, hosted by the SDCEO which is housed at Black Hills State University, drew nearly 200 participants from a three-state area and was sold out weeks before the event.
