Black Hills State University’s Swarm Days will kick off Monday, Sept. 14 and run through Saturday, Sept. 19. Community events including Homecoming week highlights include a Kiddie Carnival Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. on the campus green; Coronation and Homecoming Dance Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Jacket Legacy Room; Alumni Awards Luncheon Friday, Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Union Jacket Legacy Room; and Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet Friday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Jacket Legacy Room. BHSU is also hosting reunions for KBHU-FM and volleyball during this year’s Swarm Week.

Black Hills State University is hosting the 19th Annual Gold Dust Yellow Jacket Golf Tournament Saturday, June 27 at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club in Spearfish. Proceeds from the golf tournament will be used for scholarships for student-athletes at Black Hills State University.
Travis Covey has been named head coach of the track and field program at BHSU. Covey, who served as assistant track and field coach this year, takes over for Scott Walkinshaw who recently stepped down as head coach of track and field but will continue to serve as head coach of the cross country program.

The Black Hills State University Rodeo Club will host the second annual Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede Rodeo Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. The Cowboys and Candlelight Dinner and Auction will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at the Spearfish Holiday Inn.
After several delays due to snow, the Black Hills State University softball team will have their first home games Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Monday, April 20 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. against Mayville State University.

BHSU was the winner of the 2007-2008 Dakota Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup All Sports Award. The award is given to the school that collectively has the best performance in all sports in which they participate.
The Black Hills State women’s team placed first for the fourth consecutive season at the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) championship on February 22, 2009. The men’s team placed second for the third consecutive year.
