A hands-on workshop, “Create a Website with WordPress,” will be held Thursday, March 7 at the University Center-Rapid City, room 103. The workshop is divided into two sessions. The morning session will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the afternoon session will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Black Hills State University music and theatre graduate Tyler Raad will perform a concert Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus. A reception will follow the performers. Admission is by donation which will benefit scholarships for students of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute.
The Stewart Bellman Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Writing at Black Hills State University is accepting submissions for academic essays, papers, and reports from all disciplines.

The culmination of a semester’s work from some of Black Hills State University’s most creative and talented photography students is currently on display in the University’s Photographers Gallery.
The exhibit “All In” is a collection of more than 100 photographs taken by students enrolled in the Contemporary Issues in Photography course this fall. The exhibition will be on display in the lower level Jonas Hall gallery through Jan. 29. An opening reception was held last night for the exhibit.
Black Hills State University art students in Desy Shoenewies’s classes took an interdisciplinary and environmental approach to their latest art project.
The students, elementary education and art education majors,included garbage items in their art as they developed and presented their lesson plans to their fellow classmates. The two art projects, now displayed on the third floor of Woodburn, both use recycled materials and teach a lesson beyond art.
While earning their degrees at Black Hills State University, Kalani Corpuz, a mass communication major from Rapid City, and Markus Heinrich,a business administration entrepreneurship major from Whitewood, saw an opportunity to increase recycling. Their focus on being environmentally friendly ultimately led to the creation of a business, Cans 2 Cans Recycling LLC.
