Dr. Meredith N. Freeman, 88, who served as president of Black Hills State University in the late 60s and the 70s, died Christmas Day at his home in Athens, W. Va., after a long illness.

Over 780 students from 36 South Dakota schools participated in the fall session of the South Dakota Stock Market Game (SDSMG).  Students took part in a 10 week stock market simulation coordinated through the Center for Economic Education at Black Hills State University.

Black Hills State University photography students will be displaying recent work in the BHSU Photographers Gallery through Jan. 14.
The Contemporary Issues in Photography course challenged 18 students to choose a specific personal theme or project to work on over the course of three months. The images included in this exhibition are the culmination and presentation of these projects. The subject matter is wide-ranging and diverse, and there are a variety of photographic mediums presented. The student photographers have also published a companion book for the exhibition titled, Fhoto Phixation-The Sum of its Parts, which is on display and available for purchase in the gallery.

Nearly 200 candidates for graduation will participate in the 156th commencement ceremony at Black Hills State University Saturday, Dec. 13.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center.
