The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, will present “Vitamin D, Vitamin B, What’s Best for Me – Vitamins and Supplements” as the topic of the next Healthy Bodies/Healthy Business seminar. The first presentation will take place Tuesday, May 29 from noon to 1 p.m. in Spearfish at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center, room 206, on the BHSU campus. The Rapid City session will be Thursday, May 31 from noon to 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House, 224 Elk Street.

The spring session of the South Dakota Stock Market Game (SDSMG) concluded its 10-week trading session on April 20.  Nearly 500 students from 21 South Dakota schools formed 239 teams of stock market investors.

Black Hills State University sophomore Lindee Lawrence, biology major from Spearfish, is the recipient of the 2012 Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Scholarship. Each year during the Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk, a $500 scholarship is presented to an American Indian sophomore who demonstrates outstanding academic ability and leadership skills. The overall winners for this year’s race were Wes Broeder, Spearfish, and Marci Holben, Spearfish, in the 5K run; and Philip Schwartz, Spearfish, and Keena Byrd-Moro, Spearfish, in the 10K run.

Black Hills State University student organization, Students in Free Enterprise (S.I.F.E.), have taken action to make a difference in the community by reducing the amount of plastic shopping bags used.  Members of the organization are helping to preserve the environment by helping educate the community in hopes they will participate in a more sustainable lifestyle. The project is called “It’s in the Bag.”
