Black Hills State University’s Lyle Hare Stadium was the site of the First Annual Yellow Jacket Run/Walk. The event which took place during Swarm Week, was a fundraiser to help support BHSU scholarships.

The Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center at Black Hills State University, which hosts a variety of community events, had an economic impact of nearly $3 million on the city of Spearfish in 2007 according to a study conducted by BHSU professors.

Enrollment at Black Hills State University increased to 4,011 students for the fall 2008 semester. This increase is consistent with the University’s nearly constant growth since it was founded 125 years ago. In the past decade, BHSU has recorded an enrollment increase of 10.25 percent.
