Ed McLaughlin and Doris Marie Strom have donated $100,000 to the Building on Strength & Stature Campaign at Black Hills State University. They are long time supporters of BHSU and have given 35 gifts in 22 years and have made a total commitment to BHSU of almost $117,000.

Black Hills State University will honor several alumni during Swarm Week at the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon. Marla (Hershey) Barnard will be honored with the Special Achievement Award; the Distinguished Alumnus Award will be presented to Dr. Forrest Brady; the Excellence in Education Award will be given to Dr. Tim Creal; and Ron Schuttler will be honored with the Special Service Award.

The Black Hills State University Yellow Jacket Hall of Fame will induct five individuals and two teams during the annual Swarm Week festivities. Lisa (Reynolds) Bomengen, Craig Crosswait, and Neil Grandbouche will be inducted as athletes. Kevin Williams will be inducted as a coach, and Scott Graslie will be inducted as this year’s contributor. The 1980 men’s cross country team and the 1963-64 wrestling team will also be inducted.

Members from the Class of 1970 are invited back to the Black Hills State University campus Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their graduation. The reunion will be held in conjunction with the 2010 Swarm Day festivities.
