To encourage participation and express the faculty and administration’s appreciation for students’ participation, respondents were given BHSU souvenir pens and a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to the BHSU Bookstore. The winner of the drawing was Jennifer Trouton, freshman history major from Lead.

thumb_0006_grueb&ahmad.jpgClayton Grueb, a Black Hills State University pre-law student, is one of eight students from South Dakota higher education institutions who has been chosen for an internship in the nation’s capital under a pilot program established in 2006 by Gov. Mike Rounds. Grueb was the only BHSU student chosen for the internship.

BHSU will present a juried student award art show, “Happiness Camp,” in the Ruddell Art Gallery through May 13. A closing reception will be held May 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. BHSU art students entered a total of 80 pieces in the contest, from which 40 were chosen to be included in the show.

Six TRIO staff from Black Hills State University recently traveled to the South Dakota ASPIRE Conference held in Chamberlain recently. This annual conference is an opportunity for personnel from the 14 TRIO programs in South Dakota to collaborate regarding college access issues and success strategies for low-income and first-generation students.

In addition to his new responsibilities as associate dean of American Indian Law Programs, Glover will continue to serve as center director at BHSU.

The Black Hills State University forensics squad dominated at the Eleanor McGovern Invitational tournament held in Mitchell recently. The triangular meet ended with a sweep of the top three places for the BHSU team.
