Black Hills State University photography students will be displaying recent work in the BHSU Photographers Gallery through Jan. 14.
The Contemporary Issues in Photography course challenged 18 students to choose a specific personal theme or project to work on over the course of three months. The images included in this exhibition are the culmination and presentation of these projects. The subject matter is wide-ranging and diverse, and there are a variety of photographic mediums presented. The student photographers have also published a companion book for the exhibition titled, Fhoto Phixation-The Sum of its Parts, which is on display and available for purchase in the gallery.

Nearly 200 candidates for graduation will participate in the 156th commencement ceremony at Black Hills State University Saturday, Dec. 13.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center.

The Black Hills State University volleyball team has earned a spot in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship Tournament. This year’s team has had an exceptional season winning the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and reaching the national championship tournament for the first time. On December 2-6 the tournament moves to Sioux City, Iowa, where the champion will be decided.

Black Hills State University student, Kimberly Ulmen, received the Williams and Ree Scholarship this year.  Ulmen, junior composite instrumental music major from Kadoka, was awarded $1250. The scholarship is funded by an endowment from BHSU alumni Bruce Williams & Terry Ree.
