BHSU hosts a variety of December music events

 
 The Madrigal Dinner, an annual fundraising event for the Black Hills State University's music program, is one of several events throughout December presented by the University's  Music Department.
Several concerts and other musical events performed by students and faculty will be presented by the Black Hills State University Music Department next month.

The first is the Madrigal Dinner, an annual fundraising event for the University’s music program featuring a small ensemble of 19 singers in Renaissance garb portraying a 16th century king, queen, and court who have invited the audience to a Christmas feast in the castle’s great hall.

Programs will be held: Thursday, Dec. 5, Friday, Dec. 6, Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8.The dinner and entertainment begins in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at 6:30 p.m. each evening; tickets are $40. Monday, Dec. 9 the BHSU Concert Band will perform a concert titled “Americana” at 7:30 p.m. in the Meier Recital Hall. The band is made up of some of the finest musicians in the Northern Hills. The performance will feature a variety of music from around the United States included folk, dance, movie, and circus.

Wednesday, Dec. 11 BHSU faculty members Dr. Symeon Waseen, assistant professor of music, and Amber Waseen, instructor of music, will welcome in the holiday season with a concert of Christmas music featuring the flute and the piano. The performance is from 6-9 p.m. at Roma’s Ristorante in Spearfish.

Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Carmen Richards, music education major from Spearfish, will perform her senior vocal recital in the Meier Recital Hall.

Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. Joel Williams, music education major from Riverton, Wyo., will perform his senior vocal recital in the Meier Recital Hall.

Aside from the Madrigal Dinner, all concerts are free, but donations for BHSU music scholarships will be accepted.
