| The South Dakota State Supreme Court will hold its September/October Term of Court at Black Hills State University Sept. 30-Oct. 2. As part of their visit, the University is holding a special banquet Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union. Reservations are required.
Black Hills State University will hold a banquet in honor of the South Dakota State Supreme Court Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union.
The banquet will be held in conjunction with the high court’s September/October Term of Court at BHSU Sept. 30–Oct. 2. The Supreme Court rotates its fall term among the state’s university campuses giving students and community members across the state a firsthand opportunity to learn more about the judicial system.
The banquet is by reservation only and seating is limited. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 to sponsor a BHSU pre-law student’s attendance. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event. No tickets will be available for purchase at the door. The deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, Sept. 26. During its fall visit to BHSU the South Dakota Supreme Court will hear the oral arguments of three cases each morning Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. Cases will commence each day at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The sessions will be held in the Jacket Legacy Room of the Student Union.

In addition to the nine cases scheduled for oral argument during the September/October Term of Court, the Court will consider several non‑oral cases. People attending the sessions will receive a short synopsis of each case, as well as biographical information on the Justices, and a short summary of appellate procedure.
