The combined efforts of three Black Hills State University groups helped raise $5,000 for rodeo scholarships.

BHSU Presidential Ambassadors with the assistance of the bookstore and A’viands Food Service and Management, the University’s dining services, provided concession stand refreshments and assisted with gate admissions during the recent Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede Rodeo at the Seven Down Arena.

The fundraiser was part of the Presidential Ambassadors’ philanthropy project.

“The rodeo team really appreciates the efforts of everyone who helped raise the funds,” according to Glen Lammers, the BHSU rodeo coach. “This scholarship money will benefit some very talented and deserving team members.”

The BHSU Bookstore and A’viands helped in the project’s success by providing inventory, supplies and other materials for the concession stand. “Because of the generosity of the BHSU Bookstore and A’viands Food and Services Management we were able to meet and exceed our fundraising goals,” said Alyssa Shoemake, corporate communications major from Centenial, Colo., and president of the Presidential Ambassadors.

Presidential Student Ambassadors promote the campus to BHSU guests and alumni by hosting events and representing the University on campus and in the community. They also interact with University donors, community figures, and students during receptions, reunions, and formal events including the prestigious 1883 Dinner.
