Spearfish Piano Duet Club to host concert at BHSU

The Spearfish Piano Duet Club will host a holiday concert at Black Hills State University Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

The concert titled “Holiday Classics” will feature two-piano arrangements of movements from The Nutcracker Suite.

Performers include Raquel Sweat, BHSU music education major from Broadus, Mont.; Jesse Dunaway, BHSU music major from Spearfish; Kathryn Klopfenstein, BHSU music major from Spearfish; Tom Smith, BHSU music major from Rapid City; Jean Arehart, Sandra Asheim; Mona Hauck; Ardyth Helmer; Rita Hicks; Harumi Klapperich; Laura Kolb; Colleen McKirdy; Connie Hubbard, BHSU adjunct music instructor; Dr. Symeon Waseen, BHSU associate professor of music and Dr. Janeen Larsen BHSU emeritus professor of music.

The Spearfish Duet Club began in 2003, under the leadership of Synva Chrysler and Marianne Bieber, as a way for intermediate and advanced pianists to maintain their piano skills and at the same time have fun and enjoy each others’ musical talents.

The club will also present “Tis the Season” Wed., Dec. 14, at 12 noon at Matthews Opera house in downtown Spearfish as a part of the Brown Bag Series.
