BHSU swarm king and queen candidates announced

The 2011 Swarm Day king and queen candidates have been announced at Black Hills State University. Coronation will take place Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

The homecoming king candidates are: Theodore Schmidt, junior speech communication major from Hot Springs; Jacob J. Roman III, senior speech communication major from Spokane, Wash.; Chris Yushta, senior mass communication major from Lemmon; Saeed Sulaiman, senior business administration major from Rapid City; David Henry, junior business administration major from Rapid City; and Evan Brindley, senior human services and sociology major from Belle Fourche.

This year’s queen candidates are: Stacey Edwards, senior early childhood special education major from Spearfish; Alexandria Brummond, senior elementary and special education major from Plentywood, Mont.; Summer DiGioia, senior American Indian Studies major from Spearfish; Rhea Richards, senior human services, sociology, and psychology major from Gregory; Kelly Smith, human services and sociology major from Lead; and Sarah Hansen, senior elementary education major from Vermillion.

Swarm Week, BHSU’s annual homecoming celebration, will begin Tuesday, Sept. 6. A Downtown Block Party will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 3-5 p.m. Various programs at BHSU are sponsoring exciting events throughout the week concluding Saturday, Sept. 10 at Lyle Hare Stadium with this year’s Swarm Day football game. This year’s homecoming theme is “Swarm Spirit.” Participants are asked to decorate floats showing school spirit.

Entries for the Swarm Day parade, which will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m., are now being accepted. If you wish to participate in the parade, contact the Student Union Information Center at 642-6062 or visit www.BHSU.edu/SwarmDays.
