The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) is partnering with the S.D. Department of Labor and Regulation to host a free workshop small business workshop Thursday, May 5, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., in David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room on the BHSU campus.
Individuals who are self-employed, business owners, office managers/bookkeepers or those handling business transactions are encouraged to attend. Workshop topics will include:
- What taxes am I responsible for and when are they due?
- What forms do I need and how do I fill them out?
- When do I withhold taxes from employees' wages?
- Is my record keeping system okay for the necessary tax information?
- What professional services are available to me at no cost?

Located on the Black Hills State University campus, the SD CEO provides business assistance and training to current and prospective entrepreneurs from start up to expansion to foster economic development in South Dakota. While services are available to all those interested in entrepreneurship, the Center places an emphasis on women’s business development. The SD CEO is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
