Long-time Black Hills State University supporters Myrle and Pam Hanson have pledged $60,000 to establish an endowment for athletic scholarships at the University.
Myrle graduated from BHSU in 1953 and his dad worked as the business manager for many years. Myrle and Pam retired in Spearfish in 1991.
The endowment, which will be named the Myrle and Pam Hanson Athletic Endowment, will be funded through their estate with a gift of $60,000. Myrle and Pam updated their estate plan with the help of the BHSU Foundation staff who provide assistance to people with estate planning and planned gifts.
“Our family has a long history with BH and we wanted to do something to help support our students. We love athletics and the athletes are students first and participate because of their love of a sport,” said Myrle. “The advancement staff did a terrific job helping us put together a comprehensive estate plan that allowed us to create this endowment. We could not be more pleased with the process and outcome.”
