Black Hills State University Red Shirt Cultural Holiday Exchange program received a $1,000 grant from the Spearfish Wal-Mart.

Each year since 2000, the Red Shirt Cultural Holiday Exchange holds a toy and fund drive for the Red Shirt School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Several students, faculty, staff and alumni annually visit and spend the entire day in Red Shirts School classrooms, in addition to the party and gift exchange at the end of the school day.

The funds from the grant will be used to buy toys for the December 2010 Red Shirt Cultural Holiday Exchange and support the program.
