Krautschuns to serve as parade marshals for Swarm Day

Harvey and Joy Krautschun will serve as parade marshals for the Black Hills State University 2009 Swarm Day Parade Sept. 19.

Harvey graduated from BHSU in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in social science. Krautschun has been an earnest and enthusiastic contributor to BHSU for many years, both personally and through his numerous business contacts.

Joy majored in physical education and music at BHSU. She was instrumental in starting and coaching the University’s first varsity women’s basketball team. Joy was very involved in the dance program, a member of the cheerleading squad, and involved in intramural sports. She taught physical education and music at the Lead-Deadwood and Spearfish school districts.

The Swarm Day parade begins at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Center parking lot, continues from St. Joe Street to Jackson Boulevard down Main Street. This year’s theme is “Starring Sting,” Sting is the BHSU mascot. For more information about the parade visit www.BHSU.edu/SwarmDays.
