Drawn Against, a work by Dave Wilson, Black Hills State University assistant professor of art, is one of the pieces featured in his recent solo exhibit “Dave Wilson: My Fourth Farewell Exhibition” at the Laura A Sprague Art Gallery at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. Wilson has two additional solo shows scheduled for 2009 – one at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot, N.D., and one at Northern State University in Aberdeen.
Black Hills State University assistant professor of art Dave Wilson recently displayed his artwork in two solo exhibitions in Joliet, Ill., and in Vermillion. Wilson is also scheduled to have two additional solo shows in 2009 at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot, N.D., and at Northern State University in Aberdeen.
Wilson’s show titled “Dave Wilson: My Fourth Farewell Exhibition” was displayed at the Laura A Sprague Art Gallery at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. The exhibition featured pieces that are a combination of acrylic paint and gel medium transfers on watercolor paper. The show followed Wilson’s recent solo exhibition at the University of South Dakota, “An Artistic Conversation with Dave.”
According to Wilson his current body of work combines performers, design elements from nostalgic movie posters, and the medium of television to create ostensibly superficial portraits in distressing comedic situations.
Wilson received his master of fine arts in painting from Illinois State University in 2001. He has been a member of the BHSU faculty since 2004.
