The College of Education at BHSU announces scholarship recipients

The College of Education at Black Hills State University has announced the scholarship winners for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The Betty Richey Scholarship was awarded to Kristina Bergeron, junior elementary education major from Rapid City; Chantelle O’Dell, senior elementary education major from Spearfish; and Megan Siebenaller, senior elementary education major from Spearfish.

Lynn Switzer, sophomore elementary education major from Rapid City, was awarded the Bonnie Jewitt Memorial Scholarship.

The Bud and Josephine Jones Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Crystal Stevens, junior English major from Newcastle, Wyo.

The Center for the Advancement of Mathematics and Science Education (CAMSE)/Great Plains Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Sherri O’Brien, senior early childhood special education major from Spearfish; Wolf Parsons, senior mathematics major from Spearfish; Jolene Puthoff, senior math and science teaching major from Sioux Falls; and Laura Saucerman, senior elementary education major from Spearfish.

The Charlotte Mayree Roebuck O’Neill Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ashley Arp, junior mathematics major from Newcastle, Wyo.

Renee Radke, junior elementary education major from Rapid City, received the Clara Morden Johnson Memorial Scholarship.

Sonja Erickson, freshman elementary education major from Douglas, Wyo., received the College of Education Departmental Scholarship.

Sarah Hansen, freshman education major from Vermillion; and Tania New, freshman elementary education, major from Carter, received the Dorcile Fowler Memorial Scholarships. New also received the Dr. Malvin Skarsten Memorial Scholarship.

The Dorothy Beck Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Cori Caldwell, freshman elementary education major from Sioux Falls.

E. C. Mikkelsen Scholarships were awarded to Jennifer Aldren, freshman elementary education major from Whitewood, and Jennifer Johnson, freshman mathematics major from Hettinger, N.D. Aldren also received the Mary Sanders Scholarship.

Judy Martens, senior early childhood education major from Spearfish, received the Fallbeck Technology Scholarship.

Freeda Summers Schroeder Education Scholarship recipients are Alisa Eggebraaten, junior elementary education major from Arlington; Ashley Klinkhammer, junior elementary education major from Mitchell; and Kayla Schuring, junior elementary education major from Andover.

The Gladys Holst McFarland Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Robyn Floyd, senior elementary education major from Buffalo.

The Hans Skak and Ida Pedersen Scholarship was awarded to Danya Foote, senior elementary education major from Spearfish.

The Hattie Mae Rose Saubers Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Katy Van Daele, junior elementary education major from Colstrip, Mont.

Ashley Arp, junior mathematics major from Newcastle, Wyo., received the John Vucurevich Presidential Scholar Award.

The Mabel M. Spencer Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Megan Steiger, freshman elementary education major from Mobridge.

Marianne Ruiz, junior elementary education major from Rapid City, received the Marguerite Vigna Memorial Scholarship.

Lydia Golden, senior elementary education major from Bismarck, N.D.; and Samantha Meyer, senior English major from Rapid City, received Mary Giese Loveland Scholarships.

The Martha V. Johnson Memorial Book Scholarship was awarded to Jenna Deutscher, junior elementary education major from Rapid City; and Megan Schulte, senior elementary education major from Hermosa.

The Mary Stewart Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Samantha Mushitz, senior wellness management major from Geddes.

LeAnn (Ammon) Barnes, senior elementary education major from Belle Fourche; Jessica Marshall, senior elementary education major from Sturgis; Ashley Rives, senior English major from Gillette; and Jessica Mathern, senior elementary education major from Sidney, Mont., received Matthais and Elena Lipartiti Memorial Scholarship.

Erin Dugan, senior middle school major from Rapid City, received the Meredith Peterson Scholarship.

The Myriam Ackley Scholarship was awarded to Matthew Bartholow, freshman elementary education major from Rapid City; Chase Tyson, freshman physical education major from Wheatland, Wyo.; and Kelli Swan, freshman mathematics major from Buffalo. Swan also received a Vucurevich Foundation Scholarship.

Kimberly Ulmen, junior instrumental music major from Kadoka, received the Olga Meyers Memorial Scholarship.

The Pailing/Seabolt Education Scholarship was awarded to Adriane Bohlender, junior elementary education major from Gordon, Neb.

The Peter and Laurella Hasenmueller Scholarship was awarded to Abigail Daly, freshman elementary education major from Rapid City.

Russell Reed, junior physical education major from Rapid City, was awarded the Physical Education Major Scholarship.

The Robert and Audrey Singer Scholarship was awarded to Rhonda Pearcy, senior elementary education major from Box Elder.

The Rudy Breck and Irene Rickard Book Scholarship was awarded to Ashley Huber, senior elementary education major from Lemmon.

The Shirley Leone Martin Scholarship was awarded to Dena Puetz, senior elementary education major from Belle Fourche.

Laura Saucerman, senior elementary education major from Spearfish, received the Spearfish Lions Scholarship.

The Students of Higbee Scholarship was awarded to Lindsay (Sievert) Suiter, senior elementary education major from Belle Fourche.

Vucurevich Foundation Scholarships were awarded to Kyle Baker, freshman science teaching major from Piedmont; Michelle Barman, freshman mathematics major from Rapid City; Zachary Beam, junior math and science teaching major from Custer; Jerrilyn Dell, freshman mathematics major from Spearfish; Chance Frederick, freshman mathematics major from Pierre; Jason Hamilton, junior mathematics major from Rapid City; Hayley Handcock, freshman science teaching major from Onida; Amanda Heying, sophomore science teaching major from Lead; David Higaki, senior secondary education certification major from Box Elder; Natalia Kronenberg, freshman secondary education certification major from Rapid City; Kirby Mammenga, freshman elementary education major from Pierre; Rebecca Myers, freshman mathematics major from Rapid City; Wolf Parsons, senior mathematics major from Spearfish; Jolene Puthoff, senior math and science teaching major from Sioux Falls; Kristina Schlapkohl, junior biology major from Yankton; Kasey Till, freshman biology major from Dupree; Nicole Uhre, freshman secondary education certification major from Black Hawk; Tanner Walz, freshman science teaching major from Raid City; and Stacy Weller, freshman biology major from Philip.

The Walter Higbee Scholarship was awarded to Megan Steiger, freshman elementary education major from Mobridge.

April Schreurs, senior wellness management major from Lennox, received the Wellness Management Scholarship.

The Wells Fargo Scholarship was awarded to Peggy Hall, freshman elementary education major from Sheridan.

The Wes & Gladys Storm Scholarship was awarded to Crystal (Erickson) Bitz, freshman social science teaching major from Rapid City.

The Wilma Giacometto Scholarship was awarded to Brittan Porterfield, freshman physical education major from Sturgis.

The Louise Smock Scholarship was awarded to Nola (Rici) Domenici, junior physical education and special education major from Casper, Wyo.
