Black Hills State University will waive the application fee for all new students who apply for admission to the University during Downtown Friday Nights in Spearfish.

“If you stop by our booth and apply that night, we’ll waive your $20 application fee,” said Beth Oaks, director of admissions.

A laptop will be available for online applications as well as paper applications.

“The application is short and easy,” said Oaks.

And there is great potential for saving much more than $20. Oaks says scholarships are still available to incoming students especially students from the local region who are involved in We The People, High School Honors, and High School Debate.

“We are very appreciative of being part of the Spearfish community and are waiving the application fee to provide extra incentive to local students to see all that BHSU has to offer,” said Oaks.

The $20 waived application fee at Downtown Friday Nights is valid for BHSU students taking classes at both the Spearfish and BHSU-Rapid City locations.

Classes begin Aug. 20 and it’s not too late to enroll. Learn more by contacting BHSU Admissions at or call 605-642-6343. There is a team of helpful admissions representatives ready to answer any questions and help get students set up for fall classes.
