Photographs sought for World Tourism Days statewide photo contest

Black Hills State University is looking to capture South Dakota tourism in a unique way.  

South Dakota student photographers are asked to participate in the 2015 World Tourism Days Photo Contest &amp Exhibition. The photo contest is part of a larger, week-long World Tourism Days celebration that will be held in September at BHSU in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Tourism.

"It&rsquos time to celebrate the diversity of the businesses in our community and contribution of tourism in society," said Ignatius Cahyanto, assistant professor of tourism and hospitality management. "We want to capture the different range of the tourism business."

The photo contest is currently open for submissions. All South Dakota students at universities, colleges and high schools statewide are eligible to submit their work. Submissions must be original photographs taken within the past two years that celebrate what makes South Dakota a special place to live, work and most importantly visit.

The deadline for photo submissions is Friday, Sept. 4. Photographers can submit their images online at www.BHSU.edu/WorldTourismDay. Photographers will be notified of their acceptance on Sept. 7.

Awards will be announced during World Tourism Days in September. First place will receive a full scholarship to the Black Hills Photo Shootout (a $500 value) second place will receive $150 third place and People&rsquos Choice will receive $100 each.
