Honors Curriculum

The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with a well-rounded education and, at the same time, to give them a chance to follow their own academic, professional or creative interests. Depending on the degree program, there are two tracks for the University Honors Program: Bachelor's and Associate

Colloquia

Each semester, the BHSU Honors Program offers its students the unique opportunity to take a custom-made colloquium. This "fringe" seminar is taught by an esteemed professor at the university and introduces students to concepts and ideas not normally covered in an undergraduate class. Faculty create one-of-a-kind curriculum to challenge and engage students in a course that provokes thought through free exchange of new ideas, academic scholarship and research, and experiential learning opportunities. The colloquia are selected by student vote every two years.

Honors Capstone

Junior and senior honors program members have worked incredibly hard to put together a number of unique, interesting projects related to their fields. Each project is either a thesis or a major project that is undertaken by the student and guided by a senior faculty member and second reader. Below are a few of the exciting projects put forth by students. Also, to help you start your project, you can download and print the proposal and registration forms directly below.

Honors Advisory Council

For students, being in the Honors Program means having an intellectual relationship with their professors that is unique and different from that of others. The Honors Advisory Council is composed of esteemed professors across campus who are dedicated to providing the faculty connection for Honors students; these faculty teach Honors courses, provide guidance for capstone writers, and govern the program.
