BHSU UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT REPORTS RECORD YEAR

Black Hills State University posted a record-breaking year in 2021, bringing in $13.2 million dollars.

The BHSU and Yellow Jacket Foundations and BHSU Alumni Association Foundation surpassed the previous record of $11.7 million set in 2018. This record year yielded $5.5 million in cash, $6.9 million in estate gifts, $108,000 in property/stocks, and an additional $757,000 in pledges.

"I am proud of the growing support from alumni and friends who have donated to BHSU over the years,” Vice President of University Advancement Steve Meeker said. “It really shows the appreciation and love that they have for BHSU. The foundation is looking forward to another capital campaign in the very near future.”

The BHSU Foundation is also increasing scholarship dollars by $300,000 for the 2022-2023 school year. The new scholarship strategy will include a $4,000, $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 annual scholarship for up to four years. Requirements include at least 3.0 GPA and a minimum of 30 credit hours completed per school year.

Employee giving was up $82,627, a 226% increase from 2020.

On Feb. 25, BHSU will be celebrating the 139th anniversary of the university’s founding. Giving Day 2022 helps support the recruitment and retention scholarship initiative. Join the event page on the BHSU Alumni and Advancement Facebook and use the hashtag #jacketsgiveback throughout the campaign.
