BHSU will host Jacket Job Fair and Teacher Fair Feb. 28

BHSU students attend Jacket Job Fair and Teacher Fair Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Black Hills State University in Spearfish.

Black Hills State University will host the annual Jacket Job Fair and Teacher Fair Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Donald E. Young Center Field House on the BHSU campus in Spearfish.

The event is designed for full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship opportunities in all majors. There will be a separation of the Jacket Job Fair and the Teacher Fair but they will be held in the same building at the same time. The fair will be an open house format so students can work around their class schedule to attend.

"I always encourage freshman and sophomore students to come so they can get a feel of it and see what the Fair is like. Even if you aren't looking for something specific this year it is never too early to start the networking process," says Melissa Haught, retention and recruitment specialist at BHSU.

Currently nearly 80 employers are registered to attend the Fair 40 employers are registered to attend the Job Fair and 38 employers will attend the Teacher Fair.

"We set aside time after the Fair for students to be interviewed. So there is potential for students to be interviewed the day of the Fair," added Haught.

Last year at the business fair an accounting student got an internship with Eide Bailey, one of the largest accounting firms in the U.S. Haught says career fairs at BHSU lead to many networking opportunities for students.

The Jacket Job Fair and Teacher Fair are open to community members.
