BHSU Honors Program to host annual Furball, raise money for local Spay/Neuter Coalition

The Black Hills State University Honors Program and Honors Club will host the second annual Furball to raise money for the West River Spay/Neuter Coalition.

The Furball is a masquerade and silent auction event. The Furball is Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Spearfish. There will be a cash bar, appetizers and music, along with a silent auction. Admission is $5 and organizers encourage the community to attend.

"It will be a great chance to dress up, go out and have a fun night out with the community," said Elizabeth Williams, business administration-economic and finance major from Miles City, Mont., and president of the BHSU Honors Club.

Last year, members of the Honors Program raised $1,200 for the local coalition. The money is used to trap, spay, neuter and vaccinate cats, as well as provide an emergency medical fund for injured, ill or abandoned animals.

"We are all huge animal lovers in our organization, and love any opportunity to help them raise money," Williams added.

This year's silent auction includes original student artwork, certificates to local restaurants, guitar lessons and massages, among other items. Local businesses or individuals that wish to donate prizes to the silent auction can do so by emailing Elizabeth.Williams@yellowjackets.bhsu.edu or call (406) 951-2959 by Wednesday, Nov. 11.

"I hope to see this event continue to grow," Williams said. "We hope to raise even more money for the Coalition it's a great cause that we are all so passionate about."
