Dr. Nathan Deichert

Dr. Nate Deichert joined the Psychology Department at Black Hills State University in the Spring of 2013. He studied psychology at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, earning his Bachelors Degree in 2000. Nate went on to earn his Masters in General Psychology at Bucknell University in 2003 before earning his Doctorate in Experimental Social Health Psychology at Kent State University in 2007. After completing his graduate training, Nate spent a year as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Ohio State University before beginning his teaching career at Mount Olive College in North Carolina.
Dr. Deichert continues to integrate his teaching and research interests. Specifically, his research focuses on examining how people’s environment and their mood relate to physical health and health behaviors. Along with several undergraduate research assistants, he is currently conducting research exploring how the experience of gratitude is related to people’s psychological and physical responses to stress. His primary teaching responsibilities include health psychology, research methods, and general psychology. He is also designing a course in positive psychology.
