QuarkNet is an educational program funded by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy and its aim is to help improve science education in high schools by establishing a nation-wide science teacher network. The program is administered by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory near Chicago, Illinois and QuarkNet Centers are established at universities and laboratories to participate in high-energy and particle physics experiments. QuarkNet is getting students excited about science and involved in classroom investigations in the subject. One of the greatest features of this program is that it puts high school teachers working side-by-side with physicists on research projects at the Centers.
