Description:Minecraft is a fun sandbox game where players can build,
destroy, and explore the Minecraft world. In this
presentation, we will look at how to interact with Minecraft
using Python code. You will be presented with various
projects to choose from and learn how to create Python
code. Will you choose to build a simple house, or create a
functioning clock? Or maybe you will write python code to
create a maze. The possibilities are endless!

Bluegrass Musical "Bright Star" opens at the Matthews

The Black Hills State University Music Department and Matthews Opera House are partnering to present “Bright Star,” a bluegrass musical written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Inspired by a true story, “Bright Star” tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. This production features both BHSU students and community performers. Performances are at the Matthews Opera House on February 21 & 22 at 7:30 pm with a matinee at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 23. Tickets are only $5 for BHSU students! Tickets for adults are $15 adults and $5 for youth at the Matthews’ art gallery during business hours, Tuesday-Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or by phone at 605-642-7973. BHSU accounting majors assist community members with tax preparation

Each spring, Black Hills State University hosts the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic for individuals needing assistance with their tax returns. BHSU offers an Advanced Income Tax course which allows students to become certified by the IRS to work as tax preparers in the clinic. The clinic opened earlier this month and continues until Saturday, April 4.

$10,000 scholarships to BHSU available to high school seniors

High school seniors who attend Black Hills State University may be eligible for $10,000 scholarships, thanks to a donation by T. Denny Sanford to the Horatio Alger Association Endowment. Fifteen scholarships of $10,000 each are dedicated to incoming students at BHSU. The Denny Sanford Scholarship application is open until March 15 at: https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/59963-Horatio-Alger-Association
